From install to context injection — everything you need to get started.
ContextBridge works as a Chrome extension that sits alongside your AI tools. Installation takes under a minute.
Click Add to Chrome from the Chrome Web Store and confirm the installation prompt. ContextBridge will appear in your browser's extension area.
On first launch, you'll be prompted to sign in or register. Your account is what connects the extension to your private, searchable library — no data is stored locally.
Click the puzzle icon in Chrome's top-right corner, find ContextBridge in the list, and click the pin icon. This keeps the ContextBridge icon always visible in your toolbar for one-click access.
Once installed and signed in, ContextBridge shows you exactly what it's doing at all times. There are three places to look.
The ContextBridge icon lives in your Chrome toolbar. Click it at any time to see your current sync status, the platform you're on, the time of your last sync, and to open your Dashboard.
When you're on a supported AI platform (Claude.ai, ChatGPT, Gemini, or Grok), a small status badge appears on the page confirming the extension is active and ready to capture.
Inside the AI chat composer, a small ContextBridge indicator appears in the top bar alongside the model name. This confirms the Context Injection Assistant is loaded and ready for use in that session.
The pill shows Active when ContextBridge is connected and monitoring. It shows Syncing while a capture is in progress. Both states are normal — Syncing just means your work is being saved.
The Dashboard is your central library — everything ContextBridge has captured, organized and searchable in one place. Open it by clicking Open Dashboard in the toolbar popup.
All captured conversations, code files, and documents appear here, sorted by project and date. Use the search bar to find anything across your entire history — by keyword, meaning, or entity.
Conversations and files are grouped by project, making it easy to keep client work, research, and personal projects cleanly separated. Switch between projects from the top of the Dashboard.
Occasionally your authentication token may expire. If the Dashboard isn't loading your latest data, do a hard refresh (Cmd+Shift+R on Mac, Ctrl+Shift+R on Windows). The same applies if an AI platform page isn't showing the extension as active.
The Context Injection Assistant is ContextBridge's most powerful feature. It lives inside your AI chat window — no tab switching, no copy-pasting. Ask it what you need, and inject the answer directly into your next message.
Click the ContextBridge indicator in the composer bar of any supported AI platform. A panel opens inline — your projects are pre-loaded and ready to search.
Type a natural language query — for example, "Find the auth logic in the user controller" or "Chrome web store publish steps". Results are ranked across semantic meaning, keywords, and entities, with relevance scores shown for each.
Instead of returning raw results, Summarize runs an AI pass over your library and returns a synthesized answer based on everything relevant it finds — code files, conversations, and documents combined.
Once you have what you need, click Insert Answer to inject the AI summary directly into the chat composer, or Insert Results to insert the raw search results. Both save you from copying and pasting manually.
There's no single right way to use ContextBridge. Here are the most common patterns depending on how you work.
Capture architecture decisions, debugging sessions, and code reviews across Claude, ChatGPT, and Gemini. Before starting a new session, inject relevant prior context so your AI already knows your stack, your conventions, and what's been tried before.
Capture research threads, document summaries, and decision trails. Use the Summarize feature to synthesize findings across multiple sessions before drafting a memo, brief, or report.
What one team member figures out, nobody else has to rediscover. Shared projects mean your team's collective AI knowledge — solutions, failed approaches, client context — is always searchable by everyone.
Run deep searches across months of AI work. Filter by semantic meaning, keywords, or named entities. Use the Dashboard to review the full history of a topic before starting a new thread on any platform.
ContextBridge only syncs when you choose — nothing is captured in the background without your action. If you ever notice the extension isn't responding or the Dashboard isn't reflecting recent activity, a hard refresh on either the AI platform page or the Dashboard page will re-establish your authentication token and restore normal operation. On Mac, that's Cmd+Shift+R. On Windows, Ctrl+Shift+R. This is the fix for the vast majority of unexpected behavior.
Install ContextBridge and bring your AI work with you — every session, every platform.
